Born from a search for space for Degnan Design-Build-Remodel, Freedom Storage Shops offers businesses the opportunity to own secure, comfortable, and affordable storage and shop space in Windsor, Wisconsin.

Searching For Space A My Remodeling Company

Several years ago, DDBR owner Abe Degnan began a search for a permanent, unified office, storage, and shop space for his growing business. For decades, DDBR had been renting a separate office and barn space in the Madison area. Abe explained, "With the growth of Degnan Design-Build-Remodel, we had a rapidly evolving need for both shop and storage space, different from what the leased barn facilities provided and larger than our current office."

Before securing new office space, Abe's real estate agent presented a listing for an office condo space. Contacting the seller, he learned that the listing had expired. However, the seller's agent had a listing for land that was already zoned commercial and had been approved for commercial condominiums. While that building type was not exactly what he needed, Abe had a vision that the site could be developed into a space that would meet the evolving needs of his business. He began developing a plan. Working with the DDBR engineering team, they created a concept for a complex of 12 buildings with 5 building styles.

Getting The New Business Off The Ground

The next step was to decide on a name for the new venture. Abe was considering how to market his concept to potential buyers and came up with the name Freedom. Freedom to own something rather than to rent. Freedom for both DDBR and the buyers of the units. After a brainstorming session, they decided on the name Freedom Storage Shops. Freedom Storage Shops best represents the purpose of the development and buildings.

How Freedom Storage Shops Buildings Will Be Used

Some owners will use their unit for storage for their boat, hobby auto, or as a personal woodworking shop. Small business owners and tradespeople will use their space as shop space for their contracting, lawn care, snow removal, or auto detailing businesses.
